INFOMaker is an easy to use utility application which will format data to be used in the Macintosh. The data to be formatted can be from other computer systems (PCs, mainframes, etc.) or from other Macintosh applications. The program has been used extensively to convert database information from VAX, UNIVAC, IBM, and CRAY mainframe computers and a multitude of different micro computers. The ability of INFOMaker to handle a wide variety of input file formats including multi-line records makes it a versatile tool to users who manage information on the Macintosh.
What INFOMaker Does
INFOMaker will place all fields of a record in order on one line, separate them with tabs, strip control characters, strip all leading and/or trailing spaces, insert information for missing data, remove blank lines, remove any unwanted fields as well as any unwanted header and footer data, and set the file CREATOR so that the data can be loaded directly into an application. INFOMaker can also be used to split files on record boundaries and recombine or append files.
INFOMaker will run on all Apple Macintosh computers, 512k or greater. It is also available as a native Power PC application.
Most Macintosh applications which manage information such as databases, spreadsheets, and data graphics will accept input from a text file in which the data is in a tabular format. This data can be as simple as a listing of available files captured from an online service or as complicated as an 850 field, 38 line per record output file from a mainframe that you want to get into your Macintosh database. Tabular formatted data is where the records are separated by carriage returns and the fields of each record are separated by tabs.
When To Use INFOMaker
